If there is something I'm thankful for, is having the chance and time to pursue my love of photography. My goal this summer was to visit different places and improve my photography skills by photographing various types of landscapes and animals. Different than my visit to Fairchild Botanic Tropical Gardens, where the landscape was absolutely beautiful to photograph, I chose Jungle Island as my next location to snap away. At this location, my goal was to photograph the various species of birds that inhabit the area. Since I had already taken so many pictures of landscapes and animals, I thought birds would be a nice change. Hope you enjoy looking at these photographs as much I enjoyed taking them.

A Day at Fairchild Botanic Tropical Gardens
One of the benefits of being a teacher is having the whole summer off. So why not focus on improving my photography skills, while enjoying what the lovely city of Miami has to offer. For my first location I chose Fairchild Botanic Tropical Gardens. This location proved to be wonderful place to photograph as it's natural beauty was captivating to lens just as much as to the eye.

A Day at Zoo Miami
As a teacher, classroom instruction is crucial to the success of your students. However, sometimes you get the opportunity to take your students out of the classroom and have them visit places where they can apply what they have learned and relate it to the real-world. After a few lessons on the classification of animals, I had the opportunity to take my students to Zoo Miami, where they could learn about the various animals on site and how they interact within their environment. This was the perfect chance to combine my two loves, teaching and photography.
